Every day more people are converting from DVD to Bluray players for many reasons. First and foremost, the Bluray format is the latest technology of optical discs capable of storing video and audio in 1080p high definition.

Bluray delivers stunning picture quality with life-like precision and flawless sound through Dolby TrueHD technology.

As a result, DVD players are rapidly becoming obsolete while Bluray takes over.

Bluray players are those that can read and playback Bluray optical discs or BD. Bluray discs look similar to normal CDs and DVDs, but there are many notable differences.

For instance, a red laser is used when writing on ordinary DVDs and CDs. The newest technology utilises the shorter wavelengths of a blue laser, hence the name Bluray.

This new technology allows for more data to be stored on an optical disc, with the standard dual layer disc capable of holding up to 50 GB of data.

Bluray players are backwards compatible, meaning they can playback CDs, DVDs and other forms of optical media as well as Bluray discs. They also possess networking capabilities, and can be connected to LANs through an Ethernet capable. Others have wireless network connectivity, and routinely perform automatic updates by means of an active internet connection.
