Batman: The Dark Knight on Bluray arrives with unprecedented hype due to being touted as the “best” superhero movie ever including a posthumous Oscar-winning performance by Heath Ledger.
Apart from its spot-on casting, outstanding writing and compelling visual effects, Batman: The Dark Knight bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and becomes terrifyingly real, especially on Bluray.
The story opens with the introduction of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) as Gotham City’s new district attorney, determined to eliminate the crippling criminal gangs that have incapacitated the city and penetrated all levels of government.
Dent forges a reluctant alliance with police lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Batman (Christian Bale), the masked vigilante who only trusts Gordon and whom Gordon trusts back. The team appear to make headway until a new and psychotic player enters the game – the Joker (Heath Ledger), who promises the crime bosses the death of Batman.
Batman: The Dark Knight on Bluray is an amazing home-theatre experience as the details and colour are remarkably pristine. The sound is Dolby TrueHD and will make any home shake during the climactic scenes. The main bonus feature on the 2 disc set is the “Gotham Uncovered: The Creation of a Scene” where viewers can see 81 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of the IMAX scenes, the Bat suit, Gotham Central and many more.
