Blu-ray Movie

Welcome to Blu-ray Movie

Blu-ray technology is the latest development in evolution of the ever-changing home entertainment field. The successor to standard DVDs, Blu-ray has a higher definition picture than standard DVD and a better quality of audio. Blu-ray won a keenly fought contest for market share with Toshiba’s HD-DVD players and movies – which they have decided to cease production of.

This “format war” between Blu-ray and HD-DVD saw Toshiba’s incumbent DVD market dominance count for nothing as Blu-ray comfortably outsold them.

This of course means that all major movie releases to DVD are also released with a Blu-ray version.

Blu-ray Movies

The way in which Blu-ray players store and read the information on the Blu-ray discs is based on blue-violet laser technology that is used to read and write to the discs. The blue laser allows 6 times more data to be on a Blu-ray than a standard DVD because the red laser used in DVD has a different wavelength.

All of this means it is now possible for you to watch a movie in your home now with almost better detail and sound technology than is used in a cinema.

Amazon’s biggest selling Blu-ray movies of all time (so far) are:
1. Ironman
2. Transformers
3. Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles
4. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
5. Batman Begins
