This Oscar winning Disney-Pixar flick tells the tale of the last robot on earth and his quest to clean up the environmental mess mankind left the planet in before it was transferred to live on the luxury spaceship Axiom. The WALL-E movie has no speaking for a full 25 minutes at the beginning of the film but somehow the robot has the ability to make an audience endear themselves to him.

The WALL-E movie sees the lone robot go about his job dutifully contracting trash with his solitude broken only by his human-like tendencies and ideas and his friendship with his pet cockroach. WALL-E’s work is interrupted when the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe to earth to search for any sign that earth is safe for the humans to return to.

In the WALL-E movie, our robot protagonist is instantly smitten by EVE and tries to impress her with his collection of human memorabilia, including a single plant sprout. EVE’s system overrides her will and she instantly snaps the sprout from WALL-E to take it to the captain of the Axiom, with WALLE-E following closely behind.

The WALL-E movie is a much loved family film with the special aspect of conveying emotion through a robot – a machine formerly considered devoid of feelings. The creative touches from Pixar and outstanding animation make the film a touching love story with a poignant message about human greed.

The film itself has cleverly adapted Marvel Comics’ longstanding series, Iron Man puts billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in the warpath of Middle Eastern terrorists.

To escape their evil doings, Stark builds a high tech, indestructible suit of armour that allows him to escape. He then gives up on his past as a weapons manufacturer, which confuses both his business partner (Jeff Bridges), and executive assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow). Now he’s on a mission to save the world as a hero who’s built (not born like any other.

Director Jon Favreau shows his geeky side in fun ways with all the gadgetry and hardware but never lets it overpower the movie. There are the occasional goofy one-liners and slapstick moments to break the tension.

The Iron Man movie has a great performance from Downey that shows glimpses of his unpredictable personality to keep things interesting. Even hardcore comic fans won’t be able to guess what happens next as it all builds up to an unexpected final conclusion.

The Iron Man Movie Bluray Edition has a great number of special features include 11 deleted and extended scenes, a 108 minute ‘making-of’ documentary and lots of back stage footage of scenes being filmed.

Apart from its spot-on casting, outstanding writing and compelling visual effects, Batman: The Dark Knight bypasses the normal fantasy element of the superhero genre and becomes terrifyingly real, especially on Bluray.

The story opens with the introduction of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) as Gotham City’s new district attorney, determined to eliminate the crippling criminal gangs that have incapacitated the city and penetrated all levels of government.

Dent forges a reluctant alliance with police lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and Batman (Christian Bale), the masked vigilante who only trusts Gordon and whom Gordon trusts back. The team appear to make headway until a new and psychotic player enters the game – the Joker (Heath Ledger), who promises the crime bosses the death of Batman.

Batman: The Dark Knight on Bluray is an amazing home-theatre experience as the details and colour are remarkably pristine. The sound is Dolby TrueHD and will make any home shake during the climactic scenes. The main bonus feature on the 2 disc set is the “Gotham Uncovered: The Creation of a Scene” where viewers can see 81 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage of the IMAX scenes, the Bat suit, Gotham Central and many more.

Slumdog Millionaire opens with a young Indian man competing on the Hindi version of the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ game show in Mumbai, India. The film shows the vast contrasts between the utter poverty of the nation in an emerging modern world. It is an emotional ride at lighting speed where you may find yourself smiling for a moment and cringing seconds later.

Young Jamal, a product of the slums, is winning the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ game show. Change scene: Jamal is being tortured by the Indian police because they do not think an uneducated man from the slums of Mumbai could defeat a game show that others much wiser could not. Jamal’s story is told in flashbacks and the audience learns how he came to know the answers of each and every question.

The scenes of Slumdog Millionaire are set in the most horrific squalor we from the first world can even imagine. The story is actually a fairy tale in the sense that someone may come out of a wretched life so unscarred as Jamal appears to be. Slumdog Millionaire is a love story, not an expose on the perils of the impoverished Third World.

Director Danny Boyle is otherwise known for his work on films such as 28 Days or Trainspotting, but his work here is something else. Although most of the cast of Slumdog Millionaire are Bollywood actors and the film was entirely filmed in India, this is every bit a Western production.

The Twilight Bluray edition is a special release any Twilight fan should have in their collection. The movie itself is especially enjoyable on Bluray as the high definition quality picture and sound are remarkable in bringing the story of Bella and Edward to life in front of your eyes.

The special features on the Twilight Bluray edition will bring joy to any Twilight fans. Viewers can choose to watch the film in full with an audio commentary from director Catherine Hardwicke, stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

There are many moments throughout the audio commentary where you capture a glimpse of what the actors are really like, such as throughout the film you can hear Stewart groan and imagine her physically grimace every now and again as she criticises her performance (giving the impression she is actually more like her reserved, self-conscious character).

Apart from the audio commentary, there are also a number of deleted and extended scenes including a dream sequence kiss (which was cut from the film as it detracted from the build-up to their first kiss), and more footage of the evil Victoria (Rachelle Lafevre).

The Twilight Bluray Edition also features a seven-part documentary giving a thorough look at the behind-the-scenes of the film, including all the stunts, special effects and involvement of the author, Stephenie Meyer.

Daniel Craig plays James Bond, a blonde Bond but a Bond nonetheless. The James Bond of Quantum of Solace is dangerous, but still looks sharp in a tailored suit.

Quantum of Solace continues the story from Casino Royale with Bond containing his anger and vowing revenge on those responsible for their folly. The new villan, Mathieu Amalric is intent on controlling the water rights of the dying Third World nations and is happy to overthrow a dictatorship or several to get his way.

In Quantum of Solace, Olga Kurylenko plays Bond’s token girl with supporting roles played by Judi Dench, Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giannini.

The theme song is an interesting yet pleasing collaboration between soulful pop singer Alicia Keys and rocker Jack White.

Directed by Marc Forster and the long-time Bond production team, the film features all the heart-stopping action sequences and suspenseful moments you’ve come to expect from a Bond film. In the end, it all comes down to the performance of Daniel Craig, and he won’t disappoint.
